Davos
Davos is one of Switzerland’s biggest and oldest ski resorts, famous for cross-country skiing and it’s Ice Hockey team. The town is split into two areas; Davos Dorf and Davos Platz and is German speaking. It is most suited to experts and intermediates looking for some lively apres ski.
Skiing in Davos
There’s over 300km of ski pistes in Davos which make it a perfect destination for the more active skier. The ski pistes are seperated into six areas (Parsenn, Pischa, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Madrisa and Gotschna), with Parsenn the biggest and busiest. From Parsenn you can jump on a ski lift to Klosters. For the beginners skiers the Jakobshorn is great but also with some black runs reaching up to over 2500m high. Getting around Davos is easy with lots of funiculars and cable cars transporting skiers around the areas. The majority of the skiing is above 1800m with mainly blues and reds however there are lots of off piste action for experts. The black runs are at the bottom of the mountain where they are more challenging. Cross country skiing here is also very popular.
Snowboarding in Davos
Davos is internationally known for snowboarding with five snowboarding parks offering rails and quarterpipes in Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Pischa, Madrisa and Rinerhorn.
Apres ski in Davos
Davos has a real variety of different activities going on in the evening from relaxed posh bars to the more younger discos. There’s a casino at Hotel Europe and also a cinema and theatre.
