Val d’Isère
The world famous Val d’Isère resort dates back to the 13th century and along with Tignes is part of the Espace Killy ski area high up in the mountains of the Savoie Alps. It has a very lively après ski and nightlife, which is ideal for those looking to party until the early hours with a bus service running into the early hours. The resort has a mix of old and new accommodation which runs up the 2km hill from La Daille to main centre.
Val d’Isère Piste
Val d’Isère is more suited to intermediates and advanced skiers or boarders. It has nursery slopes that are free to use and plenty of blue runs, but it would be a waste not to come to Val d’Isère and not experience all that it offers. (Beginners: 3/5)
For intermediates it is perfect with 46 red runs and 83 blue runs across the whole Espace Killy area. Try the Bellevarde and La Daille, or head up to the Le Fornet Glacier. Tignes and La Grande Motte are a little further away but well worth testing out your abilities. (Intermediates: 5/5)
Host of some of the 1992 Winter Olympics events, for advanced skiers there are plenty of steep black runs with challenging off piste and bumpy moguls at Solaise. Try the Olympic downhill run at Bellevarde Face, which is cited as the most difficult downhill in history! (Advanced 5/5)
Snowboarders will love it here with a 35,000 square metre snowboard park at Bellevarde Face.
