Méribel

Created in 1938 by British Officer, today Méribel is considered to one of the world’s greatest ski resorts. With access to 600km of pistes via the Three Valleys Ski area, good snow and lively apres ski it’s easy to see why.

Skiing in Méribel

Méribel is part of the Three Valleys Ski area which means it has access to almost 500 pistes across 600km. This in itself makes it so special for skiing and purchasing the correct lift pass it will allow you skiing to the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville and Val Thorens. In the Méribel Valley itself there is 150km of pistes which is more than enough and getting around is easy – Méribel claims to have the most high-speed gondola lifts than any other ski resort in the world.

Méribel Apres Ski

Méribel is very lively in the resort centre. The bars are quite spread out which is the only downside, which puts it behind St Anton, Verbier and Val d’Isère in the Apres Ski hall of fame but it is still exceptionally good. For happy hours after the slopes hit Le Rond Point at the Rond Point des Pistes at 4pm. La Taverne in Méribel Centre and the Doron Pub in the Doron hotel opposite, are also good. For something a bit more up market Le Poste de Secours is a good choice. If you’re looking to party on head to Dick’s Tea Bar from 9pm which has a happy hour until 11.30pm.
